The New Inn
The New Inn | Clapham
The village of Clapham we believe was originally a Viking community. It was classed as a Manor and the Head was known as Thorfin of Ravensworth. The New Inn started its life as a farmhouse in the early 1700’s. It was converted to a Coaching Inn around 1745. In 1807 an extra floor was added and thus it took on its present form as a four story structure. The New Inn is a Grade 2 listed building in a unique Conservation village, located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
The Benson family took over the New Inn late February 2013. Within 3 weeks renovation began on the first 7 rooms. As the works progressed layers of old works have been removed and the New Inn began the journey back to its former historical glory. Original oak beams and beautiful stone walls have been restored and now serve as a distinctive feature in this character filled boutique hotel. All internal renovations are now complete to the highest of standards. The renovation has been a huge task but we believe it has been worth the time and effort, and we hope you will agree and love it as much as we do!
