The George at Wath lies just 3 miles from the city of Ripon, gateway to The Yorkshire Dales. Situated in the beautiful county of North Yorkshire, we are ideally situated to enjoy the abundance of local activities on offer. From mighty moorland to rolling dales, Yorkshire is the great outdoors at it’s very finest. Go for a gentle stroll or an invigorating hike. It’s likely there will be an outdoor activity to suit everyone's tastes.




Surrounded by fields in the beautiful North Yorkshire village of Wath, yet located less than 3 miles from the cathedral city of Ripon and only two miles from the A1, The George at Wath refurbished throughout in September 2009, offers guests exceptional quality accommodation, with the added advantage of a cosy and inviting restaurant and bar downstairs (FREE WiFi available).

Food & Drink


Whether it’s a Sunday afternoon with the newspapers or a night out with friends, our bar, with its country pub must have “the log burning stove” and a mix of oak and flag stone floor offers the perfect cosy and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a pint of one of our hand pulled ales or a glass of wine from our extensive list.


If it’s something more formal you are looking for, take a step down from the bar into our elegant and intimate restaurant. Focused on serving a menu of imaginative pub classics alongside some more taste bud tantalising dishes we pride ourselves on using only the finest of local and seasonal meats, game and freshly caught fish all rounded off with a homemade pudding or a platter of local cheeses and homemade chutneys.


Fresh Local Produce


Experience tasty well presented food using the freshest and finest seasonal produce from around the region. Meat and game from the Yorkshire Dales, fresh fish from the East coast, fruit and vegetables from local farms and everything baked, cooked and produced in our own kitchens.


Scott Young our head chef works with his son Luke alongside a dedicated team to provide an extremely tasteful and imaginative pub dining experience.

“Impromptu meal”

Went for a meal on Friday evening. Fantastic choice of menu. The meal started with a lovely canapé of Lobster Bisque followed by starters. “Delightful food”
