The Lister Arms | Malham

Nestled at the foot of the breathtaking Malham Cove, in the heart of the idyllic and charming village of Malham, you’ll discover The Lister Arms. For sheer location alone, our traditional coaching inn is a fell walker’s paradise, but for those with a serious passion for home-cooked food in a traditional Yorkshire setting, you’re on to a winner.

From the outside, history can be seen from every turn, from the traditional mounting block where riders would effortlessly climb on to the horses, to the period features and beautiful tiled entrance hall which greets you on arrival..

Inside the Inn is divided into little nooks, with original fireplaces, wood floors and beams, making it the perfect place to while away the hours with friends (2 or 4 legged), loved ones or fellow walkers.

You can choose from a menu which is a celebration of locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients from trusted suppliers in the area, all home-cooked to order by our talented chef, and the team. And naturally for a Daniel Thwaites owned Inn, food here is brilliantly complemented by the extensive selection of cask ales. Add to that comfortable accommodation and a really warm Yorkshire welcome from our friendly team and you’ve got everything you need for an unforgettable trip to the Yorkshire Dales.

Our Rooms

The Inn - choose from standard or character rooms in the main inn. We're an old building with heaps of character, wonky floorboards, wooden beams and unusual shaped rooms, but what we don't have is a lift or any ground floor rooms. Some of our character rooms have fabulous views of the green outside the inn.

The Lister Cottage - adjacent to the Inn and with its own front door, the cottage offers a choice of standard or character rooms, over a ground and first floor.

The Lister Barn - just a hop, skip and a jump ( over the beck !) and you're at the front door of our fabulous new Lister Barn development with 8 gorgeous guest rooms. Choose from character or feature rooms - we also have an accessible room at the Barn as well.

Our Food

Whether you choose to spend the day exploring the beautiful green countryside of Malham on foot or admire the views as you drive through the breathtaking Yorkshire Dales National Park, the heavenly aroma of home cooked food will be waiting to tempt you across the threshold into our friendly inn.

Our menus are traditional in the sense that they offer you a warming array of your favourite home-cooked dishes that have been lovingly prepared by our talented team of chefs. You can enjoy dishes which are freshly prepared to order using good quality local ingredients, sourced from trusted suppliers in the area including delicious cuts of meat, seasonal vegetables and cheeses. And make sure you can find space for a pudding, you won’t be disappointed.

“Great place to finish a fantastic walk”

My wife and I did a 10 mile walk ending at Malham Cove. We had parked out the front of The Lister Arms and put £1.50 into the milk churn to cover the cost of parking. Actually I think it is only a pound but I was feeling wreckless. Living near Brighton a day's parking would be nearer £20. As...
