Guests can enjoy magnificent walks, breath taking landscapes and excellent positioning for exploring further afield, where better to base yourself than in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park?
Built in 1874 on the site of an old coaching inn on the Pennine way, The Buck sits in the centre of the village of Malham – maybe you’ve seen us on television? Julia Bradbury loves our pie & Tom Kerridge joined us recently for our winter quiz night! Popular walking trails take in Malham Cove, Malham Tarn, Janets Foss & Gordale Scar.
Just a 30-minute drive from the A65, with the market towns of Skipton & Settle close by, we are well situated for those undertaking The Way of the Roses, The Three Peaks Challenge, Tough Mudder or The Pennine Way & events such as The Yorkshire Food & Drink Festival, Malham Show & Kilnsey Show are always popular and all local to our pub.
Under new management since 2016, we’ve worked hard to upgrade and improve throughout and the feedback from our guests has been great.

“Excellent friendly accommodation in a beautiful part of the world”
We spent 3 nights at the pub and ate there on all three evenings. The room was really big and had a lovely clean bathroom. The breakfast was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. The evening meals we had were delicious, particularly the pies. Nothing was too much trouble. Without having to ask for it, I was provided with fresh milk in a flask, as it was particularly hot that weekend. Would definitely go again and would and have recommended it to my friends.
“Post 3 Yorkshire peak challenge haven”
My husband and I stayed here last night as we were doing the 3YP challenge and wanted to avoid a long drive home ... heck we deserved a nice overnighter as a reward for 24 miles for challenging terrain! So, location was stunning; we were in Rm11 - big room (perfect for a family as there was a cute little side room with 2 single beds). Was relieved to see a bath (after the mileage we'd endured!). Master bed was huge and very comfortable. Nice for once to see a room not colour and furniture-matched to death.... was a lovely mish mash of rustic comfort. We were ready for a good meal and The Buck did not disappoint .... and with the added delight of Bruce (the owner's gorgeous puppy collie springer cross) - no-one could walk past without a cuddle :-) I had the fishcakes for starter and the chilli bite was perfect .... hubby had the soup (unmistakably home made). I had the lamb shank for main and it was beautiful and pinched some of my husband's chips. The staff were great, friendly and down to earth. I made it to breakfast (just) after a very deep sleep and it was one of the nicest I've had - all locally sourced. Would wholeheartedly recommend this place... we'll be going back, without doubt. Loved it.
“Excellent accommodation in a lovely area”
Stayed here for a weekend break. Rooms spotless well appointed, nice to come back on a cold day and see the radiators been turned on, so the room was lovely and warm. Nice to have fresh milk for tea and coffee and biscuits too. Food was delicious some nice choices on the menu, only disappointment was the Haloumi Burger which was a bit dry. Breakfast was excellent, cooked breakfast was cooked to order and nice and hot. Lovely friendly atmosphere and the staff couldn't do enough for guests.
“Pretty little pub”
We didn't stay there overnight, went for a few drinks after visiting Malham Cove and loved the environment. It was busy but there's lots of seats inside. Drinks are not highly priced either. Overall a pretty little pub!
