“Beautiful Place To Stay”
I had a helpful email prior to travelling giving detailed directions - very helpful as some sat navs don't take you the best route. There is a long unmade road leading to the house - this passes through fields containing sheep and small streams. The parking area is home to several friendly chickens! The house is amazing - hundreds of years old with the original staircase, so full of character. Our room was fastastic - pretty large with a big ensuite, with gorgeous views. Breakfast is downstairs in the diniing room, and was delicious. Richard and Trish are the best hosts imaginable. Highly recommended in every way.
“Great place, great stay”
Lovely room, superb breakfast. Really helpful hosts and the legendary Yorkshire welcome, naturally. Recommend you settle in Settle although that joke must have been done before. If you want a place away from corporate uniformity and with buckets of character, this is it.
“Lovely house lovely people”
We have just had 4 days staying in this lovely old house and have loved every minute the rooms are lovely and the hosts were so very friendly.Fresh eggs with breakfast every morning from the hens who live there.Wonderful views from the house and from the approach to it also. The house is close to Settle which has plenty of shops and places to eat.
“The very best of hosts”
It's really worth the run around to find Littlebank Country House, discretely sited along a rough track amongst hillside trees just a few miles out of Settle. Or you could be sensible and read their directions before setting out! Richard and Trish are the very best of hosts; good humoured, attentive, informative about the locality and lovely people to boot. The bedrooms are definitely 'huge' - relaxing, comfortable, warm, spacious and well equipped. But it is the unexpected touches that make this guest house so special. There's plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits, but where else would you find Richard's amazingly light butterfly cakes and a decanter of sherry replenished each day in your room?
Breakfast is 'informal' according to the menu. That means help yourself to a fantastic range of fruit and wholesome delicacies. The eggs are so fresh, the friendly clucking hens must surely have delivered them to the kitchen only minutes before. And as you eat, you can marvel at the variety of birds visiting the bird feeder and the trees. Make use of the available binoculars to watch siskins, finches, tits, nuthatches and woodpeckers or to plan your walks on the distant hills. This place is a real treat. Go for it.
Just returned from a 2 night stay in Rome Crag at Littlebank.
It felt like we had our own suite - very private. Bathroom and bedroom room lovely - everything co-ordinated beautifully.
A very well equipped games room was a bonus which we didnt expect but enjoyed nonetheless.
Standard of cleanliness first class.
The house is surrounded by exceptional countryside situated very near Giggleswick & Settle.
Breakfast was perfect and included very tasty free range eggs from on-site hens - thank you girls, not to mention delicious home made marmalade.
Richard & Trish (owners) are happy, helpful and very friendly hosts - nothing was too much trouble. (complimentary flasks of hot drinks offered to take on outings).
The home made fairy cakes and decanter of sherry in the rooms is a very nice touch (wish I had remembered to ask the name of the sherry - it was delicious).
It is obvious that Richard & Trish care very much to ensure the comfort and needs of guests are met, - they are a great team and make excellent hosts.
I would highly recommend Littlebank House and would most definitley stay again when in beautiful North Yorkshire.
