The Triton Inn
East Riding of Yorkshire
The Triton Inn | Sledmere
The Triton Inn forms part of the village Estate of Sledmere in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. This 18th century Inn was completely refurbished during the winter of 2006 and boasts up to date facilities within a charming Victorian setting.
Surrounded by rolling hills and the beautiful countryside made famous by David Hockney, Sledmere is the ideal location for exploring some of the areas best kept secrets whether on foot or by bicycle.
The market town of Driffield is a 15 minute drive away. Situated less than 20 miles from the rugged Yorkshire coast and it's ever popular seaside attractions at Scarborough and Bridlington, and only 26 miles to the ancient and historic city of York it's the perfect base for touring around.
The Triton Inn offers visitors a warm welcome, fine ales & good wines with traditional English style meals at lunch times and evenings. And if you don't want to leave; you'll be more than comfortable in one of our 4 star rooms.
Our Inn is a perfectly peaceful haven for all visitors to the area. We have five very comfortable en-suite rooms - four doubles and one twin - all boasting tea and coffee making facilities and flat screen televisions.
All the rooms are decorated to a high standard. Our regular rates are £85 for two persons sharing a double room. This rate includes a delicious home cooked breakfast.
For those who need to connect, Wi-Fi access is available in the bar area and it reaches to some of the rooms. All our rooms are individual in size. Some have larger bathrooms with smaller bedrooms and visa versa.

Food & Drink
Our menu has been purposefully designed to offer you an excellent choice of great food cooked to a high standard, whilst keeping everything nice and simple with no surprises.
You won't find any "Tarte aux pommes avec creme anglais" at the Triton. If it's apple pie and custard, we say it's apple pie and custard.
Our lunchtime menu offers traditional sandwiches and snacks along with more substantial meals; whilst our evening menu offers a choice of over 10 main courses including our traditional steak and ale pie. Plus a selection of tempting homemade puddings and starters.
We are renowned for our Sunday lunches and regularly serve over 200 guests, so booking is essential.
Sunday lunch is served from 12pm to 7pm and our full three course meal is individually priced from £19.85
“Lovely village inn”
This was my first visit with a friend who visits frequently. The staff were very welcoming. I had one of the best steak pies I've ever tasted and the beautifully presented cheesecake was a delight. I thoroughly recommend the Triton Inn.
“Lovely food, friendly staff”
Four of us went for an evening meal, and it was so good we went back again another night. Great food, beautifully cooked, and just a bit different ( better) to the usual. The staff were pleasant, friendly and efficient. They even come round to top up the coffee cups. Loved it!
“Traditional quality Inn”
Sunday lunch for a group of 30 MX-5 owners club members was a refreshingly pleasant experience. Friendly helpful staff and a very good quality Sunday roast went down very well. Our group visit many different inns for lunch and this has to rate amongst the best. We will certainly be back.
“What a Gem - gorgeous country Inn”
Fab food hospitality and 2 night stay all rooms are lovely - shower TV - comfy beds - highly recommended - lovely rooms - breakfast superb - lovely walks around Sledmere Hall - and not to forget Tommy the Inn dog so very cute.
“Yorkshire hospitality at its best”
This was our second visit within 6 months as we are looking to move to The Wolds and we cannot recommend The Triton highly enough. The staff are brilliant going above and beyond all expectations. The accommodation, food and choice of wines is excellent, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We were made to feel very at home and nothing was too much trouble.
“Lovely, cosy, country pub”
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here yesterday. A really cosy, warm pub with friendly waiting staff and excellent quality food. We only visited for lunch as we had been out walking in the gardens of Sledmere House, and it rounded off a lovely day perfectly. The sandwich platters were generous and delicious, and the sausage egg and chips was particularly enjoyed. Will definitely return.
